The student-run coffee shop “The Infinity Room” began its trial operation on 24 June 2024 in Room LG05 of John Fulton Centre!
The Student-run Coffee Shop Startup (CU-SuCCeSS) programme, jointly organized by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), the Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services (ORKTS) and the Minor Programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPIN), provides students with a series of training workshops aimed at cultivating their creativity, innovative thinking, and practical skills in business management. The winning team from the Pitching Competition was granted the operational rights to run the coffee shop in Room LG05, John Fulton Centre, for up to two years, providing an experiential learning opportunity for students to experience entrepreneurship and build operational competence. While learning about entrepreneurship, the programme also aims to provide a unique campus space at CUHK.
Over the past year, the winning team has been responsible for conceptualizing their interior design, selecting renovation materials, purchasing equipment, designing the coffee and food menu, establishing a company, and applying for relevant permits. They have experienced a complete entrepreneurial journey during their studies at CUHK. After extensive planning and renovation for over two semesters, they have created an art-filled café called “The Infinity Room”.
The café will undergo a trial operation during the summer break, with opening hours during weekdays, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. During this period, the winning team will accumulate operational experience to prepare for full-scale service in the new academic year. Feel free to come and taste the coffee, enjoy the comfortable and healing space, and support the first-time entrepreneurship of our CUHK students.
