Continuous mindfulness practice enables us to observe our emotional fluctuations with a calm manner, helping to reduce anxiety and tension. While mindfulness can be practiced anytime and anywhere, beginners can benefit greatly from a quiet and private space, as they are more sensitive to external distractions.
The Sunshine At CUHK meditation booths, generously donated by The D. H. Chen Foundation, feature a serene four-season forest theme and are named “Mindful Forest”. These booths are equipped with essential oil diffusers, enhancing the mindfulness experience by engaging the senses. They are located on the 1st and 3rd floors of the Pommerenke Student Centre, providing students with a space to enjoy moments of solitude and peace.
Users are welcome to scan the QR code inside the booth to access the Guided Imagery Video Series on the Sunshine@CUHK YouTube channel, which promotes relaxation through mental imagery. Guided imagery is an effective stress management technique; by fully engaging with peaceful imagery, the body’s tension dissipates, and worries fade as the mind temporarily escapes stress. Learn more about guided imagery on our website article: Relaxation through mental imagery.
In the midst of daily challenges, take a moment to visit the Mindful Forest to practice mindfulness, adjust your inner dialogue, savor a moment of tranquility, and discover your own spiritual oasis.
