Flourishing 1st Year@CUHK: “7-Well Store” Promotes a Sense of Resilience and Positive Wellbeing

The Learning and Cultural Enhancement Section of the Office of Student Affairs recently launched a campus-wide campaign, Flourishing 1st Year@CUHK, to promote the SEVEN WELL Stress Management Approach developed by Professor Freedom Leung. This initiative aims to educate students on cultivating healthy habits and building resilience—essential skills for managing stress and fostering a positive learning environment, particularly for first-year students.

A highlight of the campaign was the “7-Well Store,” held from 11 to 13 September 2024. This unique setup offered students opportunities to relax, engage in fun activities, and learn how a positive mindset can alleviate stress. Two interactive game booths featured themes such as “Exercise Well,” “Play Well,” and “Work Well,” allowing students to throw balls and quoits towards their goals and preferred living styles.

Another noteworthy activity was the “2024 CUHK Students’ Wish List,” which invited students to share their feelings, thoughts, and words of encouragement. Over 200 messages were collected, fostering a sense of “Mind Well” and “Love Well” among participants and contributing to a supportive campus atmosphere. Souvenirs from the game booths and the Wish List, along with an exhibition backdrop introducing stress management tips, underscored the importance of the SEVEN WELL Stress Management Approach.

The 7-Well Store attracted approximately 1,500 participants and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Students expressed their enjoyment and engagement with the activities, with one remarking, “It’s very fun and refreshing. Please continue organizing these activities.” Overall, the event successfully promoted wellness and resilience among students, creating a vibrant and supportive learning environment.
