
The Learning and Cultural Enhancement Section of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) recently hosted the first-ever Minor Programme and Learning Expo 2025 on 16 January 2025 at the Yasumoto International Park. This groundbreaking event attracted over 800 participants and showcased a diverse array of minor programmes and learning opportunities available to undergraduate students. The occasion was further enhanced by the presence of Prof. POON Wai Yin Isabella, Acting Provost and Pro-Vice-Chancellor/ Vice-President.
Prof. Poon emphasized the importance of minor programmes in enriching students’ academic journeys and personal growth in her opening remarks. She highlighted CUHK’s commitment to fostering a whole-person education and encouraged students to explore the diverse educational opportunities available. Prof. Poon also expressed gratitude to the Office of Student Affairs and all involved in organizing the event, noting that the dedication of attendees reflects their commitment to learning and uncovering new opportunities.
The event featured over 50 minor programmes, providing attendees with a comprehensive overview of the various offerings. Booths were staffed by enthusiastic representatives who were keen to offer guidance and share detailed information about the programmes. Attendees also enjoyed a series of information talks on topics such as University General Education, Entrepreneurship, Exchange Programmes and the Co-op programme. These talks were aimed to give students a deeper understanding of the opportunities available and how they can leverage these opportunities to enhance their academic and professional journeys. Besides, inspirational stories from current students highlighted the positive impact of pursuing a minor on their academic and professional development.
The expo was made possible through the collaborative efforts of 35 Academic Units and Professional and Administrative Services Units at CUHK, making it a memorable and impactful experience for all involved. Their dedication ensured that students could make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures, underscoring the university’s commitment to providing a holistic education that prepares students for future challenges.
