Celebrating Postgraduate Achievements: CUPSA’s High Table Dinner “Broken Cocoon into a Butterfly”

The Chinese University Postgraduate Student Association (CUPSA) hosted a vibrant High Table Dinner on June 7, 2024, at the Ho Sin Hang Hall, celebrating the graduation of postgraduate students with the support of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). This grand assembly brought together graduates, alumni, and student representatives from various universities, further graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. SZETO Cheuk Chun, Associate Dean (Academic) of the Graduate School Office, and Prof. TIEBEN Hendrik, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.

The theme “Broken Cocoon into a Butterfly” resonated powerfully, serving as a metaphor for transformation, growth, and evolution. In his address, Prof. SZETO Cheuk Chun emphasized the importance of adaptability, perseverance, and a growth mindset as the keys to success. Thomas LI, the President of CUPSA, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging attendees to embrace transformation and personal growth in today’s fast-changing world.

The evening was further enriched by the presence of remarkable alumni who shared their personal journeys and experiences. Kelly CHEN, the Co-director of ICBC ASIA Private Banking and a member of the 10th CUPSA Cabinet, provided valuable insights into diverse career paths, urging students to capitalize on their unique strengths. Fred Wang, a Physics Teacher at Shenzhen Technology University and the 16th Ph.D. in Physics from CUHK, engaged the audience in a discussion on the pursuit of a Ph.D., shedding light on both its benefits and sacrifices.

This exceptional event offered CUHK postgraduate alumni an exceptional opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and fellow graduates, gain valuable insights, and establish meaningful connections.
